Allen & Shariff provided HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection (MEP) design engineering services for the renovation of USP 800, USP 797, and USP 795 compounding pharmacy on the sixth floor at UPMC Montefiore. The renovation included one USP 800 compounding space, one USP 797 compounding space, and a USP 795 compounding area.

The renovation also included the required ante rooms, deboxing space, and hazardous material storage to support the USP compounding areas. Clean rooms and ante rooms are designed to ISO 7 with positive pressure from non-hazardous clean room to ante room to pharmacy and negative pressure from hazardous clean room to ante room and positive pressure from ante room to pharmacy. Fan filter units with integral HEPA filters were used to achieve the proper air changes per hour to meet ISO air quality standards.
