UPMC Passavant Main Entry Lobby

Allen + Shariff provided engineering services for a renovation of the existing lobby, entrances, gift shop, waiting areas, and blood draw suite on the first floor of UPMC Passavant Hospital. The project space included approximately 34,000 square feet.

Mechanical engineering included modification to the HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system to meet project needs. Terminal boxes throughout the space were designed to meet cooling needs and meet the IBC and FGI guidelines. The project included radiant panels throughout the main corridor to provide heating along the 200ft corridor. Multiple exhaust fans were upgraded throughout to meet proper air changes of various rooms. Sinks, water closets, clinical sinks, and ice machines were added per UPMC standards. Fire protection was also designed throughout the space to meet NFPA standards.

Electrical engineering included modifications to general power, lighting, fire alarm, tele/data, and nurse call. Lighting consisted of dimmable 2x2s, downlights, and accent color changing cove lighting. Custom backlit signage was designed for the exterior entrances and reception desks. Electrical panelboards were added to the space to accommodate additional electrical loads. Fire alarm and nurse call panels were added as an upgrade to the project space. Interior and exterior security cameras were installed for an overall security upgrade.
