UPMC McKeesport—Multiple Projects
Allen + Shariff led the MEP design services for the renovation of the multiple projects for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UMPC) McKeesport. The project included a cooling tower replacement, isolation room upgrades, a cath lab AHU study, and storage upgrades. A conversion of 8,000 square feet of four operating rooms was also made, and associated storage space was moved into GI procedure rooms and a recovery area. Additional upgrades included a detox unit renovation, new cafeteria, and x-ray and AHU replacements. The emergency generator upgrade consisted of changing out four 400 KW emergency generators, and new fuel oil piping systems were installed for the generators and existing boiler plants. Cosmetic upgrades were made to patient care units, and a full coverage automatic sprinkler system and fire pump were installed. A complete renovation of the existing chilled water plant was completed to allow for 1800 tons of cooling, and included a new chiller and cooling towers.
