UPMC – Craft Place

Allen + Shariff provided MEP/FP engineering design services for a 38,900 square foot tenant improvement located at 3240 Craft Place. The project included offices, rest rooms, and kitchenettes. There is also an adjacent parking deck.

The space consists of a mixture of exposed and hidden duct systems. The private offices are served with VAV boxes where the ductwork is tucked away behind the ceilings. The open office areas are served via spiral ductwork and exposed fan powered VAV boxes. Sound mitigation is provided for these exposed systems via insulation and extended ductwork. Split systems were designed to serve IT rooms.

Plumbing work includes the extension of existing domestic water and sanitary systems for the tenant requirements, including rest rooms and kitchenettes. Fire Protection design was required to modify the base building sprinkler system in order to bring it into compliance with the architectural intent for the space.

Electrical work consists of highly efficient LED light fixtures controlled via a sustainable lighting control system. Dimming is provided when enough daylight is present. New panelboards were provided throughout the space to accommodate the increased amount of plug receptacle loads.
