UPMC Children’s Hospital 7D Rehab Center

Allen + Shariff provided engineering services for a renovation of the 7D wing of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The renovation also included relocation of the Respiratory suite to the fourth floor. The project space included approximately 12,000 square feet of clinical space.

The project consisted of VAV’s located throughout the space based on use and exposure. Sinks, water closets, clinical sinks, and ice machines were added per UPMC standards. Medical gas outlets were installed in the imagining and respiratory suites. A new area alarm panel was provided at the nurse station. Fire protection was also designed throughout the space.

Electrical engineering included modifications to general power, lighting, fire alarm, tele/data, and nurse call. Lighting consisted of dimmable 2x2s, downlights, and accent cove lighting. A new nurse call panel was added. Installation requirements for patient lift system were strictly coordinated with the manufacturer to provide conduit, cable trays, junction boxes etc. A multi-zone lighting and sound system was added for the rehab gym and family dining area.
