MAC Center
Allen + Shariff provided MEP engineering services for Maintaining Active Citizens (MAC) Center, a 4,000 square foot addition project located in Salisbury, MD. The MAC Center, which was founded in 1972, provides programs and services for health and independence for an aging population. The mechanical design for the project consisted of the addition of horizontal ducted geothermal heat pumps located above the ceiling. The existing geothermal piping was extended to the new heat pumps. The new heat pumps were integrated with the existing central building DDC control. The plumbing design consisted of two new gang bathrooms, a pantry, two mop sinks, and a new sink in one of the classrooms. The existing plumbing water and sewer piping was extended to the new plumbing fixtures in the new addition. The electrical design consisted of the addition of power, lighting, and fire alarm system for the new addition. A new electrical panel was provided, and LED lighting was specified. A new conduit was also provided to connect the power in the existing electrical room, and the fire alarm was integrated with the existing fire alarm system.
