Fruitland Intermediate Cooling Tower

Allen + Shariff provided mechanical, and electrical engineering design services for this renovation to the 45,000 SF Fruitland Intermediate School. The $112K project consisted of the replacement of the existing cooling tower, remote sump tank and cooling tower pump.

The replacement cooling tower provided is a more energy efficient counterflow, induced draft type cooling tower. The new cooling tower is supplied with a variable frequency drive to control the fan speed at part load conditions. The cooling tower was also provided with a whisper quiet fan motor and water silencers due to it being installed close to existing classrooms. A new concrete pad and enclosure fence were provided for the new tower. The remote sump tank located in the boiler room was replaced with a new tank that matched the existing tank. The single existing cooling tower water pump was replaced with two new cooling tower pumps that will provide redundancy in case one pump were to fail. Electrical work consisted of the power provisions required for the new equipment.
