Good Hope Neighborhood Recreational Center

Allen + Shariff provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for this 6,305 square foot facility as well as a new 1-story addition. The Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center is located within the 13-acre Good Hope Regional Park. The project, which required an extensive renovation and a modest expansion, included the construction of an exercise/weight room, small activity room, game room, additional restrooms and storage.

A core component of the site and building infrastructure renovation was to upgrade the facility to conform to the Montgomery County Energy Design Guidelines as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The project achieved LEED Silver certification, a 2019 AIA Honor Award for Institutional Architecture, and an AIA MD 2019 Public Building of the Year.
