Allegheny County Housing Authority McKees Rocks

Allen + Shariff provided MEP/FP engineering design services for a 20,000 square foot new office building to house the Allegheny County Housing Association.

This new construction office building was simple in the sense that it was constructed to support a single tenant that would be occupying the building immediately. However, various design components had to be revisited as the project progressed as part of a value engineering exercise. The challenge became maintaining the original design intent while meeting the owner’s budget, which was ultimately achieved.

After the completion of construction and occupancy of the building, the owner requested that a generator and corresponding distribution equipment be added. Multiple scenarios were considered, but the final size of the generator ultimately was a compromise between cost and necessity. This generator addition was also designed by Allen + Shariff.
