Allen + Shariff provided full MEP engineering design services for the new John H. Burbage Regional Cancer Care Center, located on the property of Atlantic General Hospital (AGH) in Berlin, Maryland.
The new 18,200 square foot cancer care center provides oncology services, chemotherapy infusion, linear accelerator for radiation treatment, mobile PET imaging trailer, CT imaging, and full laboratory and pharmacy capabilities.
The HVAC system installed consisted of high efficiency variable refrigerant flow heat pump systems with heat recovery for simultaneous heating and cooling. Ventilation air to the building was provided by a centrally located high efficiency packaged rooftop dedicated outdoor air system with an energy recovery wheel to precondition the outside air as well as variable speed compressors.
The electrical design included a generator, LED interior and exterior lighting, power supply, site lighting, a nurse call system, and a fire alarm system.
The plumbing design consisted of a high efficiency gas water heater, hot water recirculation system, plumbing fixtures, medical gas compressed air, vacuum pump, and oxygen tank systems, and a fire protection sprinkler system.
