NAME: Vincent Etsujiro Cerro

TITLE: Senior CAD Specialist, Associate

OFFICE: Pittsburgh, PA

YEARS AT A + S: 15

Tell us a little about yourself. Family, hobbies, etc.

I am half Japanese and half Italian. I have a 14 year old daughter that keeps me on my toes. I got engaged to my fiancé Krystal last year and we live very happily with our puppy (Squish).

I have been playing in pool leagues (8 & 9 ball) for the last 10 years. I play on a team out of a pool hall called Breakers now, which is amazing because it is walking distance from my house!

I am a gamer as well – currently playing Starfield and Valorant.

What makes Allen + Shariff great in your mind?

The people here understand that we have lives outside of our work. Many of us take pride in our work but that doesn’t stop us from having stuff happening in our personal lives. I think A+S does a great job understanding that we are people and not just a number.

If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose and why?

No one specifically. I am pretty self-driven and not that I am saying I do not need help (because I definitely do), I seek help and mentorship from everyone around me. If you can help me or better me in anyway, I am all ears. You do not need to be older/wiser or young/naïve to show me the path I want to take. Maybe this question isn’t suited for me haha.

How have you contributed to our team most significantly?

Of recent, I think by training, mentoring and managing. Almost a year ago, I was tasked to oversee the Digital Practice Committee and as we have been making progress, it wasn’t with some bumps on the road.

I have been working here since I was 20 years old – I am 35 now. With that, I see many younger people coming into this field and office much like my old self. I can understand some of the frustrations that come with this business so I try to walk them through it the best I can.

If you could you could quickly and easily learn any new skill, what would it be?

Graphic Design/Photoshop

What is something unique about you (a fun fact) that few people are aware of?

I stated earlier I am half Japanese but I also lived in Japan from 3 – 9 years old. My first language originally was Japanese. My mother is still currently living in Yokohama.

I was born in San Francisco (Go Niners!) and moved to Maui, Hawaii for a few months before I moved to Japan.

No – my parents were not in the military.

What is one thing you cannot live without?

My family. None of this would be worth it without our loved ones.

Who’s your favorite fictional character and why?

Luffy from One Piece. One Piece is the treasure everyone is looking for in this story and Luffy is determined to be the one to find it and be the King of Pirates. He has gone through his own personal losses, hardships, and struggles, yet he continues to fight forward with a determined heart. I have been following this story for 25+ years and I cannot think of another fictional character I love more than him. To the future Pirate King!!
