Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23) is an aviation unit of the United States Navy based at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, USA. The squadron was established on 22 July 1995. Using the tail code SD, the squadron operates multiple aircraft types of the United States Navy for test and evalutaion purposes.

Allen & Shariff furnished all labor, materials and equipment necessary to complete the design/build project which consisted of a new 8,330 SF one story metal building to accommodate the VX23 Mission Systems personnel.

The open floor plan incorporated 2 private offices, modular work stations, 2 conference rooms, 1 SIPRNet RAA (Restricted Access Area) to serve as mission planning room, coffee mess, reception area, copy/storage room, mechanical/electrical rooms, janitor’s closet, point-of=presence (POP) room and restrooms including showers.

Project work included coordination of all utilities (exterior and interior) including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and security systems. Complete installation for connections to NAS Patuxent River RDT&E Network, NMCI, SIPRNet, telephone and electronic entry/exit door hardware are provided. All communication lines into building and to every work station. Site prep, sidewalks, exterior lighting, landscaping and signage were also included.

This project received a LEED Silver Certification.

There were zero safety incidents or accidents that occurred on this project.
