Allen & Shariff Corporation (ASC) completed a very fast-track construction project, awarded by EFA Chesapeake, to help the U.S. Naval Academy recover from damages caused by Hurricane Isabel. Specifically, ASC successfully completed major repairs and renovations to 36,000 SF of laboratory space in Zone V for the Rickover Hall Laboratory facility.

ASC’s scope of work included: Complete replacement of suspended ceilings, replacement of light fixtures with regular and explosion-proof fixtures, electrical inspections and repairs, door inspections and repairs, asbestos abatement, masonry wall repairs, VCT floor tile and terrazzo base, drywall installation, painting, HVAC repairs, plumbing, store-front door replacements, and room signage for the laboratory spaces in Rickover Hall. Additionally, with the addition of wall repairs and painting in the large tow-tank room, our scope significantly increased during the project.
Since this project was on an extremely tight schedule, significant attention to detail was required as well as frequent and specific communication with the Resident Officer in Charge of Construction (ROICC) for the Naval Academy. All work was successfully completed either on or before the deadline completion date. This project also required complex phasing plans in order for the end-user to occupy certain portions of the laboratory while construction progressed in other phases. Work commenced May 26, 2004 and the work under the original scope was turned over to USNA in mid-August 2004.
