Allen & Shariff provided LEED MEP engineering, energy modeling & commissioning services for the renovation / rehabilitation of an existing 80,000 SF historic warehouse building (Brownfield) that is being used as housing for teachers. Abandoned for 20 years, the property now provides high quality and affordable living spaces for teachers coupled with low rent offices for education-related nonprofits.

This project is LEED Gold Certified.

Miller’s Court also received the Green Housing Award from the American Institute of Architects and was a natural fit for this award as the design’s strong emphasis on energy efficiency through a series of innovative and creative solutions allowed the project to achieve significant reduction in energy consumption.  Green Technologies included:

  • Water Source Heat pumps
  • Energy Recovery
  • Low Flow Plumbing Fixtures
  • Annual Energy Savings $65,000
  • Annual Water Savings 349,583 gallons per year
