Gateway Center

On February 20, 2013, at the Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania Annual Engineering Awards Banquet, one of Allen & Shariff’s MEP engineering projects was awarded the Transportation Project of the Year. The winning project is The North Shore Connector. Allen & Shariff provided MEP design services for the Gateway Center Station which is part of the 1.4 mile extension of the existing light rail system from the Central Business District of Pittsburgh to the North Shore via two bored tunnels under the Allegheny River.

AIA Silver Medal Award

On October 11, 2012, at the annual AIA Design Pittsburgh event, one our projects was awarded the Silver Medal. The winning project is the North Shore Connector Gateway Station. The architectural firm was Light/Motion Collaborative (joint venture of Edge Studio and Pfaffmann + Associates). The last time the Silver Medal was awarded was 4 years ago. AIA Press Release

Trumbull Corporation-Led Joint Venture Wins National Construction Award

Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) named Pittsburgh’s North Shore Connector project as one of the most significant construction projects of 2011 and North Shore Constructors (A Trumbull-Obayashi Joint Venture) as one of only 16 firms to receive its coveted Alliant Build America Award. The awards are considered by many to be the most prestigious recognition of construction accomplishments in the United States.
