MEP/FP design for a 12,000 SF for the Butler Transit Authority Intermodal Transit Center that includes geothermal. This new construction county transit hub was designed to maximize energy efficiency and to obtain LEED Silver certified rating.

Phase I of the facility consists of a new 7,000-square-foot administrative building, a 22,500 SF bus canopy, a 12,000 SF bus maintenance/wash bay facility and a storage area for the Authority’s buses and Butler County’s Butler Area Rural Transit (BART) shared ride buses.    Phase II of the project provides a local transfer point for the current fixed-route and shared-ride transit systems, pedestrian and bicycle access, a taxi port, and a park-and-ride lot for future service to Pittsburgh.

The energy model predicts a 23% energy savings over a comparable building not using ground source heating and cooling.
