Allen + Shariff performed the mechanical and electrical design for Chipman Elementary School, a 7,000 square foot, $350,000 renovation project in Salisbury, MD. Chipman Elementary School is a Judy Center and Title I school with approximately 320 students.

The existing HVAC system serving the gym and cafetorium was removed and replaced with new high efficiency packaged rooftop water source heat pump units. The units were provided with energy recovery wheels to pretreat the outside air with exhaust air, and were then installed on spring vibration curbs. New spiral ductwork was provided in the space, and structural steel was added below the roof to support the units. The units were then connected to the existing building automation system and electrical power was provided to the units.
