Bay Forest Fitness and Recreation Center

Allen + Shariff provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the Bay Forest Community. This $8M new construction project included a 7,000 square foot fitness center and a 7,900 square foot recreation barn, in addition to a 450 square foot Pump House building for the outdoor pool. Amenities for the renovation included three community pools, bocce ball, basketball & volleyball courts, a tennis center and playgrounds.

The HVAC system consisted of gas fired split system condensing units on the exterior of buildings. The outdoor air was provided to all units through louvers on the exterior of the building. Electric unit heaters were provided for freeze protection and supplemental heat in the storage, mechanical, and janitors’ closet. Exhaust for the bathrooms was provided via a direct drive centrifugal inline fan.

The electrical system design provided new electric services to both buildings. The lighting system included interior LED lighting and modern low voltage controls. The electrical design consisted of power to HVAC, pool equipment, exercise equipment and automated doors.

The project was designed to use low flow plumbing fixtures and efficient, on-demand water heaters for each building. Due to special civil constraints, a centralized domestic booster pump system located in the recreational building was utilized to provide pressurized water to all parts of the site. The project used piped propane to service the building heating and hot water equipment needs.
