The Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) Dialysis Center will be part of the New Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Master Plan. The 6,700 sq. meter (722,000 SF) facility is comprised of two stories with a total of 68 dialysis stations. An underground basement parking for 79 cars and surface parking for 76 cars will be provided for patients and visitors to the facility.
Allen & Shariff is providing Project and Construction Management services for this Dialysis Center. The design phase began in 2010, with construction completion scheduled for 2013. Continuing on with the sustainable aspects of the design, the owner, operator, consultant and Allen & Shariff very closely reviewed all project specifications to maximize the use of locally available building materials. This project is one of the first projects to receive full design approval from the Urban Planning Council (UPC) Estidama department for an Estidama 2 pearl rating.
The project program and number of dialysis treatment beds is based on a planning study that determined the dialysis needs for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The building will include appropriate and separated waiting areas for patients and families, vertical circulation, storage and support spaces for dialysis treatment, nurse and staff offices, staff support areas, required MEP and tele/data spaces and appropriate loading docks.
